TYDE is a German electric-boat company based at Starnberg, on Lake Starnberg near Munich, founded in 2021 by former Torqeedo chief executive Christoph Ballin. It develops electric hydrofoiling vessels, most visibly THE ICON, a glass-hulled foiling craft developed with BMW and aimed at luxury passenger-shuttle use rather than private sale. THE ICON is driven by twin Torqeedo motors and BMW i3-derived battery modules, and received a Gustave Trouvé Award in 2023.
