All-electric day boat built around six switchable scenarios — Beach, Picnic, Party, Water sports, Fishing, Commuting. It measures 8.67 m by 2.59 m, 3,060 kg light, rated for twelve, and is trailerable. The standard 207 kW motor (270 kW optional) draws on a 140 kWh pack — 130 kWh usable — for 30 knots flat out, around 120 nm at 5 knots, and roughly 30 nm at the 12-knot cruise the hull was shaped for. Folding topsides open 17 m² of deck, with WC, wet bar, grill and stern shower. From €269,000. 2025 Gustave Trouvé Awards winner; designed with Thorne Yacht Design, first hull sold and in build.

News

I was attracted to go electric because I believe it represents the future of transportation. It offers a clean and environmentally friendly alternative while providing a serene, silent experience that closely resembles the joy of sailing.

Our take

What a buyer should know

A hosting platform first

The EZ 28 is best understood as deck space that moves. Twelve passengers, folding topsides that open the boat into 17 m² of usable floor, a wet bar, grill, WC and stern shower on an 8.67 m hull is a combination nothing else in the class offers — and the six factory scenarios (Beach, Picnic, Party, Water sports, Fishing, Commuting) mean one hull can be a sunbathing platform on Saturday and a six-seat picnic table on Sunday. For an owner whose boating is entertaining, swimming stops and unhurried days — or a charter operator on noise-restricted waters — that is the point of the boat.

The numbers, now in full

Crooze has shared the complete picture, and it makes one of the more honest spec sheets in the segment. The pack is 140 kWh gross, 130 kWh usable — among the largest batteries in the size class — behind a 207 kW standard motor, with 270 kW optional. And instead of a single flattering figure, there is a curve: around 120 nautical miles at a 5-knot idle, roughly 30 nm at 12 knots, and 15–16 nm flat out at the 30-knot top speed. The 12-knot number is the one to anchor on — the hull and running surfaces were engineered around that cruise, which is why the boat covers a genuine day’s distance there instead of collapsing to a sprint-only range. Water-sports towing is specified at 15 knots. Very few builders publish the middle of their curve at all; Crooze does, and it holds up.

Price and position

At €269,000 the EZ 28 buys more usable deck per euro than anything nearby: the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom Air runs roughly twice the money, and the Candela C-8 sits above it too. It is also trailerable — 2.59 m of beam on 3,060 kg light — which changes the ownership economics for lake and coastal owners alike.

The yard behind it

Crooze is a young company that has done its de-risking the hard way: the design is by the UK’s Thorne Yacht Design, construction runs at Elica Yard’s 12,000 m² facility on the Danube, the first hull is sold, paid for and in build, and the model took a 2025 Gustave Trouvé Award. The usual advice for a new yard still applies — confirm your build slot, warranty terms and who services the boat in your market — but this is further along than most boats arrive at this stage.

Written from the builder’s published specifications and the wider market, not from testing the boat ourselves. Always confirm figures with the manufacturer before committing.
